Information – academic year 2017-18

Dear Parents/Carers,

I wanted to take the opportunity to write to you all, not only to officially introduce myself as the Acting Head of School at Oak Bank, but also to briefly share some important information in relation to the forthcoming academic year.

Staffing:

Senior Leadership Team

There have been some significant changes to the Senior Leadership Team for this year, it will be structured as follows:

  • Executive Headteacher: Peter Cohen (Leadership and Management)
  • Acting Head of School: Rachael Freer (Personal Development and Behaviour)
  • Acting Deputy Headteacher: Phil Collier (Teaching, Learning and Assessment)
  • Assistant Headteacher: Sharon Cox (Outcomes for Students)
  • Assistant Headteacher: Lesley Phillips (Designated Safeguarding Lead i/c Welfare)*

*We are fortunate to welcome Mrs Lesley Phillips to the staff team from Milton Keynes Academy. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in education and she will be taking on the both the Designated Safeguarding lead as well as the role of Designated Teacher for Looked after Children.  Mrs Phillips should be the point of contact for any safeguarding concerns, in her absence, Miss Amanda Ward is the Deputy Safeguarding lead and Hayley Blount continues to work as Family support worker.

New staff:

We would like to welcome the following staff to the Oak Bank Team:

Mr R Maddox – PE teacher

Miss B Lewis – Key stage 2 Teacher

Miss V Rankin – Key stage 2 Teacher

Mr G Hesketh  -Construction Teacher

Miss C Billingham – Key Stage 2 HLTA

Miss A Halfpenny – Teaching Assistant

Miss O Goldney – Teaching Assistant

Miss J Brucass -Teaching Assistant

Miss E Chishti -Teaching Assistant

Name changes:

Miss Rachael Cox will now be using her married name of Mrs Rachael Pirotta

Key workers

All pupils will be allocated a key worker and this person should be the first point of contact for all concerns. I will be asking Key workers to make contact with home in the first week, so please expect this call and let staff know if you have any concerns or issues for the coming term. We are always happy to help, so please ask if you need anything.

Timetables

All pupils will be issued a timetable to take home during the first week, so if this does not make it to you- please contact your child’s key worker.

Term Dates

You can find dates for this academic year under the Parents and Carers tab on the website.

I am looking forward to seeing all of our pupils next week and beginning what I am confident will be a great year, full of opportunity and success.

Best Wishes to you all,

Rachael Freer
