Animal Care

Year 10 and 11

Level 1 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Work-based Animal Care.

This is a nationally recognised qualification which aims to meet the needs of students who would like to work with animals. The students will learn, practice and develop the skills necessary to look after a wide range of different animals. This is a practical, hands on course and students will assist with the general day to day needs of the animals.  Assessment will be through a portfolio of evidence, which will be gathered by working through the different units of work.

Year 8 and 9


Will be able to study and achieve in a wide range of different AQA accredited unit awards in Animal care, Horticulture and ground maintenance. These units will be assessed through hands on practical tasks, written activities and photo graphic evidence.

Years 5, 6 and 7


The main aim for our younger students is to develop the social skills necessary to be able to work cooperatively with one another. This is achieved through the students being able to experience a wide range of different activities within our Animal care and Horticulture centre. The students will learn about the basic care and needs of our animals as well as developing useful gardening skills.
